Big things here, but yes Tongues is a gift just like any other spiritual gift. The thing here is that there’s a lot of people who can’t understand it. During these times tongues was being misused as well in the Corinthian church. Paul says that the exercise of the gift of prophecy is superior to the gift of tongues because nobody can interpret tongues. Paul also encourages tongues to be used during prayer, but not during Church service. This comes with putting the church first, you haft to think about what’s best for the people not you. Which in this case tongues wasn’t, because no one understood it. On the other hand prophecy was good for the Church, it told the revelation from God to a individual. When that gift was being exercised, everyone benefited from it. So next time think about what gift better suits the people of the church.
