“I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus. I am writing to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I am writing to you who are young in the faith because you have won your battle with the evil one. I have written to you whoa are God’s children because you know the Father. I have written to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning I have written to you who are young in the faith because you are strong. God’s word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.”
1 John 2:12-14
This is reminding me of the way spiritual gifts thrives in the body. I also think about how God continues to provide gifts, spiritually throughout our lives, not just before we are born. That concept is noted here in verse 13 “I am writing to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I am writing to you who are young in the faith because you have won your battle with the evil one.” Throughout life we endure trials and tribulations that will equip use with wisdom if we decide to give them to Christ. When we take it upon ourselves to get through these trials we don’t learn nearly as much as we can going through it with Christ. That is a gift and when it is given to the church, you are using it correctly and relationally, and that is also praise worthy.
