“Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him. And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.”
1 John 3:19-24 NLT
John reassures us that when we act in love, it is a proof that we’re abiding in the Lord. Now John touch’s on the subject of how believers feel bad when they sin or feel convicted when doing something wrong. This is because God lives in us through the spirit, the spirit is greater than our hearts. When we sin the spirit convicts us of doing wrong and causes us the desire to change for God. God knows our motives, he knows what’s in our hearts. Through our salvation we will build a sensitive relationship with sin. We will feel the conviction of the spirit. So when we feel bad that’s good. It’s supposed to correct our behavior, our God is looking for our best interest and wants to best for us. So abide in his commands and repent and know that feeling bad is not as bad thing but a good thing.
