“This letter is from Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James. I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more mercy, peace, and love.”
Jude 1:1-2 NLT
With this intro of the book of Jude, we get strapped into the foundation of who we are above all else under Christ. Jude puts it in perspective by showing us before anything else that he is a slave to Christ and he welds that position christians should find themselves in by bringing it back to the security and love God consistently offers and gives. This is preparing us for an idea that will better solidify the foundation of our beings as creatures made in the image of God as he commits to doing right by his own service for Christ without boasting, but rather calling us to join him by doing the same. We simply can not function in God’s body without applying these 3 attributes, mercy, peace, and love, into our character. We can do all sorts of things that are considered honorable in today’s society, but none of that matters if we don’t do it honoring God by applying these attributes into the work we do alongside each other.
