“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.”
Jude 1:20-23 NLT
Why hate? For are we better than the person who sins? Aren’t we all sinners? If we are hating the person who sins then aren’t we hating God for we’re made in the image of god? Be careful, God has shown us grace and mercy and we should reciprocate this. The person who is sinning does not need a person who hates them, they need help. We should give them what God has given us. That is love. We should love the person. Now don’t get confused about person and sin because we should hate the sin and love the person. We need to analyze where the sin is coming from and combat it, we should be helping the person as God has helped us. So show love, be aware of what you’re saying to sinners. Because were sinners, so if your hating sinners wouldn’t you hate yourself? Again be careful because we should love ourselves because we’re made in the image of God, but we should hate the sins in our lives and break free of them. So be vigilant and be aware in your lives. Be slow to attack, and quick to love.
