2 PETER 1:1-2 / BLOG

“This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior. May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Peter begins his letter saying both his names from his first being Simeon and the name Christ gave to him which is Peter meaning a rock or stone. We move forward to how he first stated how he was a bond servant which makes me think that he thinks his first duty is to summit or serve God and it’s a priority in his life and honestly should be in ours too, but he moves on to say he’s an apostle of Christ meaning Christ chose Peter to carry out or to fulfill his mission. Thus, Peter declared that he’s under the authority of Christ and authority from him to deliver the commands and instructions in his letter. Peters letter is to us and what I mean is that we share the same faith. Peter wanted us believers to have grace and peace and more than enough of it. Now he didn’t want us to just get it in an instant, but to understand that through the knowledge of God and the lord Jesus Christ. Our identity should come through knowing God and Christ. As Peter identifies knowing God as the right path to grace and peace. Lastly, We know Christ to be God, but we also should understand christ to fill a separate and distinct role in the trinity.
