1 PETER 1:22-25 / BLOG

“You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:22-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Peter begins with what we were in our old lives of living in ignorance and our own selfish desires. Now we’re saved by Christ’s blood and forever rescued from the emptiness. Now we are called to obey the truths of God, it’s once we trust God and know that through Christ we’re saved is when we start to pivot our lives and see life as it is. It’s once we shed light on those weeds that God can plant new ones. Once we obey God is once we begin to change our lives and the outlook on aspects of the world. We must not be double-minded between our selfishness and fulfilling God’s will for us. Lastly Peter quotes Isaiah’s poem from chapter 40 v 6-8 and simply God’s word is forever, while we may come and go physically. God’s truth will forever remain the same throughout time and space.
